Gasfitter/Natural Gas Operator

Applications are invited for the position of Gasfitter/Natural Gas Operator with the Town Of Norman Wells, Northwest Territories. The Gasfitter/Natural Gas Operator reports directly to the Utilities Manager and is expected to train in practical and theoretical operation and maintenance of the Natural Gas distribution system under the direction of the Utilities Manager. The position requirements would include: • Inspect, service and repair components of the natural gas distribution system. • Install or arrange installation of all gas services to new customers. • Arrange for major repairs. • Perform all duties as required in the applicable Operations Manuals for natural gas system. • Perform equipment and machinery checks as required and ensure their continued operation and maintenance. • Perform minor repairs as may be required and/or as may be directed by the Utilities Manager. • Assume responsibility for operations in the absence of the Utilities Manager. • Be available for weekend and evening standby as may be directed by the Utilities Manager. • Perform other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned by the Utilities Manager.

The ideal candidate shall possess the following qualifications:  Journeyman Gasfitter  Experience in Natural Gas distribution systems  A minimum of 7 years experience in Gasfitting  Grade 12 or equivalent  Proven reliability, flexibility and problem solving skills Compensation and benefits are very competitive and under review.
